We've driven by this sign several times and finally stopped to photograph it.  The combination of businesses is a little odd, but it really gets you thinking about your own business practices.  Are you a Listing Agent or a Buyer’s Agent?  Or, perhaps you try to do both.  


 

But what happens when you’re a great listing agent and you find yourself blogging and getting lots of traffic to your website and now you’ve got all these buyers calling.  Canbusy phones you really effectively work those buyers AND list properties.  The answer really depends on you.  Because we work as a team and there are TWO of us - for Bill and I, the answer is yes. We have a great system.  I handle most of the paperwork, blogging and communicating with Buyers until they are ready to start looking.   Then, when they arrive, Bill spends the time with them showing them properties and helping them through the myriad of things involved with the purchase. Of course the two of us communicate during the process so that we’re all on the same page.   We have worked together for years and, again, we have a great system.


 

But what if it’s just you?  There comes a time when you wish you could clone yourself. DollyWell, you can and here’s how.  Find someone in your office who likes working with buyers. Someone with your work ethic.  Perhaps someone who you’ve heard profess that they don’t like listing.  Yes, they are out there!    Make sure you’re comfortable with how they handle people and work out a suitable referral arrangement that works for both of you.  Then when you’re feeling overwhelmed with listing appointments, blogging and promoting your listings and a buyer prospect comes along you can refer them to out to your “team”.

Once you start to develop a steady income stream from referrals that aren’t costing you lots of time on your schedule, you may find that it’s much more profitable to simply refer them out and work on what you like do best - listing!

Mary - how true.  Bill hates sitting at a desk and it doesn't bother me.  He likes driving around and being outside.  I'm happy behind a computer.  I'm very high-strung and he's the picture of calm.  Now, if I could just get him to give up the Miracle Whip for Mayo, he'd be perfect!!!
